3rd and Bird

"Hello.  Can I speak to Josh Sellig, the creator of the wonderful children's
program,
Wonder Pets, please?"

"Speaking."

"High, it's the head of CBeebies here.  We love Wonder Pets, but we've got a
bit of a problem."

"What's that."

"If we show it on Cbeebies, we wont be able to mercilessly exploit the brand
and rake in enough cash from merchandising for champagne and new yachts
all round.  We need a similar show of our own fast - everyone's getting a bit
fed up with the Helicopters we bought with the
Night Garden money.  Can you
make one for us?"

"Well, time's a bit tight right now - we're working on new Wonder Pets
episodes"

"Pretty please with sugar on top."

"OK, I'll botch something together in my coffee break for you."

And so, the poor man's Wonder Pets was born on Cbeebies.  If you've seen
the original, you'll know the drill, a Gilbert and Sullivan stylee cartoon full of
good lessons.  Featuring bird friends Samuel, Rudy and Muffin, each show
rams some moral value or other down the throat of your pre-schooler.  It's just
not Wonder Pets though.
