Storymakers

If you're an out of work black actor (such as, say, Danny John Joules from
Red Dwarf), who's not too proud about how you make a living.  If you
desperately need to pay the rent this week, and you can live with the fact that
the puppets are clearly far more important to the show than you.  If you can
afford the bus fare to the studio, then maybe Storymakers can help you.

"Worthy" programming from the BBC.  One can only assume that the Director
is an ogre, because only Doctor Who has been played by more people than
The Storymaker.  Cunningly, the idea is to get children to read more by, erm,
showing them cartoons.

Set in a Library at midnight, it is The Storymaker's job to work with the two
most annoying puppets ever created (Jelly and Jackson) to make stories for
the children to read the next day.

Again, we should applaud the BBC for casting black actors in the main role.
Although we should point out that the white librarian gets a constant day-shift
whilst the black Storymaker works nights.  I feel a tribunal coming on.

Each Storymaker is named after a famous poet, eg Milton Wordsworth and I
guess the idea is to turn children on to books.  However, it all boils down to a
lame effort to stitch together various very poorly made pieces of animation,
that make Button Moon look like a visionary, hi-tech piece of programming.

Imagine, Imagine, Imagine a story.

The only saving grace amongst the animations is Blue Cow, the story of a
blue cow (no, really) who's spent too much time grazing in the mushroom
patch.  "Hold very tight", as she heads off on the bus that stops by the field to
another adventure.

"Everyone knows programmes this bad can't possibly get on telly"

"But we know different, don't we"
