| Dora The Explorer Stand back with amazement as The Americans teach poor British imitators like The Fimbles what a marketing vehicle is all about. Dora Toys, Dora Clothes, Dora Backpacks, Dora Everything. Somewhere in the middle of all this is a cartoon. Don't get me wrong, there are a whole number of excellent elements to the show. It's all bright colours which capture children's attention and full of educational elements, all with plenty of repetition to aid learning. It has a strong female lead character and it's an adventure show without violence. One of the key elements to the show is that Dora speaks partly in Spanish, teaching us useful words and phrases as she goes along. Okay, so it's slightly more relevant in The States, but none the less... Vamonos everyone. Each episode sees Dora and her friend Boots The Monkey taking on a quest, consisting of three challenges. All the while Swiper The Fox tries to get in the way and spoil the fun. Swiper, NO SWIPING (say it with Dora everyone!). Other regular characters appear and it's all thoroughly good fun (and expensive). Back to Parents Guide To Kids TV |
