Something Special

More "worthy" programming from the BBC.

Something Sinister starts each week with Justin taking a child with Special
Educational Needs (Am I up to date with the terminology?  It's hard to keep
track.) for a day out, which is conjured up with the rudest looking series of
actions I've ever encountered.

Regularly we see Justin lurking around such places as woods (just as he
does in the song on Springwatch) and swimming pool changing rooms.
We're not sure exactly what he's up to, but he has a furtive air about him.
We're suspicious.  A BBC insider, who wishes to remain anonymous,
informs me that the 'Public Toilets', 'Sauna', and 'Deserted Car Park at
3am' episodes were all cut from the schedule, due to being unsuitable for
family viewing.

Meanwhile, the clown Mr Tumble is always around causing mayhem.  The
chief delight in our house still comes from the fact that our three year old
daughter hasn't figured out that Justin and Mr Tumble are the same
person, despite the fact that it's the poorest disguise since Superman.

Grand-dad Tumble (another thinly disguised Justin) is another favourite
character in our house, who appears regularly to add 'more fun' to the Mr
Tumble sketch, and on occasion other members of the Tumble family
appear too.

One of the programmes' main aims is to teach sign-language.  It's certainly
working with me.  I've become adept at such phrases as 'fat, camp man'
and 'why are you lurking behind those bushes?' - both of which I perform
regularly during the show, to demonstrate to Justin the progress I'm making.

All I'll say on the matter is 'Bring Back Sara-Jane' - she seemed to be the
only one that could keep Justin on the straight-and-narrow.  On a serious
note however - I do like Something Special, and think it's well made and
worthwhile - honest!
