The Roly Mo Show

This is our daughter's favourite.  Mum and Dad enjoy it too.  Roly Mo started
life as a bit part character on
The Fimbles, popping up each day to tell a
story.  Those in the know knew from the outset that he was the real star.
Then came the breaking point, when Roly went to CBeebies with his famous
'own show or I walk' ultimatum.

The result is The Roly Mo Show.  The first things you need to know are the
two key songs:

There's a friend in Fimble Valley
That we're on our way to see
To hear him tell his stories, and maybe stay for tea
He's a mole who's living underground and his name is Roly Mo
Roly, Roly, Roly , Roly Mo
He's the roliest mole you'll ever know.
And his name is Roly Mo

(Note that whilst Roly Mo rolled during the opening credits of every Fimbles
episode, he rarely shows off his rolling talents in his own show.  He must be
too famous for that sort of thing now.)

When you take a look, inside a book
Who knows what you will see
When you take a look, inside a book
It's fun as fun can be
With cats and dogs
And birds and frogs
A monkey who says 'boo!' (Monkey: Boo!)
Wonderful things, like giants and kings
And maybe a Fimble or two
When you take a look, inside a book
Who knows what you might see
A story or rhyme, just take the time
To read along with me

You'll notice two things.  Firstly the production company who make the show
aren't shy of self-publicity for their other show
'The Fimbles'.  Secondly, the
lyrics to the songs on the show are done in five minutes flat on the back of an
envelope.

Anyway, lets meet the cast:

Roly Mo

Classical music loving, star-gazing, book-worm mole, Roly lives underneath
Fimble Valley.  All round good guy, but has severe short-term memory
problems.  Roughly every third episode seems to revolve around Roly looking
for something he's misplaced.  My theory is that the memory problem is down
to too much partying as a young mole.  Much reliant on his niece, Little Bo, to
keep him on the straight and narrow.

Little Bo

"Little Bo, whaddya know"

Appropriately for Fimble Valley, Little Bo sounds more Welsh than Charlotte
Church.

Every class in every school has the goody-two-shoes kid like Little Bo.
Enthusiastic about everything in school, and desperate to get that Busy Book
out each time she visits Uncle Roly.  The Busy Book provides another
convenient opportunity to plug
The Fimbles.

Little Bo is clearly sent each day after school to visit Uncle Roly because the
family are worried about his ever worsening memory.  Little Bo's daily arrival
is the catalyst for the show's plot.

Yugo and Migo

"Yugo!"
"Migo"
"We go..."
"...Amigo"

Snoots Yugo and Migo provide the comic relief from Mo and Bo's straight act.
Behind the laughter there must be a sad story to tell.  Given that in a recent
episode they shared a birthday, they are clearly supposed to be twins.  So
why does Yugo appear to be from The West Country, whilst Migo speaks with
a Mexican accent?  There must truly be a tragic tale of separation in their
upbringing.

Rockit

Yup, you guessed it, the annoying frog from The Fimbles makes the
occasional unwelcome guest appearance.
